Free Cone Monday

Today is the first day of spring!! yay!!! Spring has always been my favorite time of year. I adore watching the world around me turn green and colorful. I love wearing light sweaters and pastel colors. Its like the whole world is up with the sun, stretching, yawning, and starting a new chapter. On this particular first day of spring fell FREE CONE day at Dairy Queen and it was spectacular.

After school, #3 had a playdate with his best friend at the jungle gym and after that, we went to get our cones. The line was wrapped around the small building in Fairfield that has been standing there since I was as little as #3 is. The high school kids working there were frustrated, but the crowd was happy and smiling. I mean, its FREE ICE CREAM so how could you not be happy? It was nice enough to sit on a bench outside and enjoy our ice cream all together, OOOOOOhh what a happy afternoon it was. And as if my day couldn’t get any better, #3 fell asleep in the car on the way to pick up his sister. EVEN MORE, she was in a good mood when I picked her up, which is so rare for a 12 year old post-school. I handed #3 off to his dad, dead asleep and covered in chocolate ice cream 🙂

After my day at work, I had to take my sister to the train station so she could get back to school. Once I saw her off, I went into Urban Outfitters in Westport and got a photo album for all the Polaroids I plan on taking on my trip. It holds 60 of them and was $12. I also grabbed a travel size thing of Batiste dry shampoo for $5. I swear by that stuff and will NOT make it 8 days without it.

Its been a great day and the rest of the week seems relatively calm, but we’ll see!
